Sejm and Finance Committee process tax bills tied to 2027 budget revenues
Published · Updated
What happened
The Sejm and its Public Finance Committee took up government tax bills in the 2-4 September legislative cycle, including changes to PIT, CIT and excise rules relevant to 2027 budget planning. The bills have therefore moved from fiscal planning into an active parliamentary track.
Why it matters
Tax measures linked to a future budget matter once they enter a legislative channel because revenue assumptions can no longer be treated as internal government planning alone. If key bills are delayed, amended down or vetoed, Warsaw's fiscal path, borrowing assumptions and talks with the European Commission over deficit reduction may need revision.
During the 2-4 September Sejm sitting and related Finance Committee work, deputies processed government bills on PIT, CIT and excise changes that feed into the revenue side of the 2027 budget. That gives the fiscal dispute a named legislative channel and a dated procedural step within the last two weeks. Because the governing coalition does not reliably command a veto-proof majority, each tax bill now has a live path toward amendment, delay or presidential veto, with follow-on effects for deficit reduction plans and negotiations with Brussels.
