TMO brings forward 2026/27 grain stock sales and starts barley sales
Published · Updated
What happened
TMO announced earlier-than-planned sales from public grain stocks for the 2026/27 season, including low-grade wheat sales via TÜRİB and the start of barley sales. The announcement was made as feed-market pressure and concern over corn being held back from the market were being discussed.
Why it matters
A state stock release can change near-term pricing and physical availability in feed and grain markets by adding supply and setting a reference for private sellers. It also signals that Ankara is willing to use public inventories to influence market behavior before tighter shortages emerge.
On September 11, the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) said there is no supply problem in grain markets and announced that it had brought forward sales from its 2026/27 stocks. TMO said low-grade wheat had already been offered through TÜRİB and that barley sales would also begin. The step is a concrete market intervention aimed at easing feed-market pressure and discouraging producers or traders from withholding corn in expectation of higher prices.
